Is this still an Arabian stallion?

Yes, of course!

And an important one!

Bilke, a German hippologist, wrote about Sid Abouhom:

"Of the major studs the grey Sid Abouhom was a very strong stallion, very good withers, very good , correct gaits and very large hocks, a maker of foundations, whose get are especially improved in the hocks."

The importance of Sid Abouhom comes through his numerous daughters. If he only had one - the mare Mabrouka out of Moniet el Nefous - his influence would be phenomenal! Only think of two of her get: Morafic and Ansata Bint Mabrouka. What would be the Egyptian breeding without them?

But Sid Abouhom had much more beautiful and influential daughters. Just to name a few and their get:

Bint Kateefa  -  Kaisoon and Farag

Fathia  -  Foze and Fawzan

Mouna  -  Bint Mona, Moneera, Maheeba

Lubna  -  Ghalion

Farasha  -  Galal, Farazdac

Kaisoon and Farag were imported to Germany and became important sires. Both became very old, over 30 years. Here are photos of Kaisoon (Nazeer X Bint Kateefa) KR 1958, that I took in 1980:

El Deree, the father of Sid Abouhom:

El Deree c.1920, Saklawi Sheifi, presented to king Fouad by Hussein Ibn ad Derri, a Resallin Saba Anatezeh beduin

El Deree was an asil desert bred stallion. Much confusion was about his origin as we have different sayings of race horse trainers in Egypt. The Inshass Herd book does not give us any information regarding his breeder, only the strain Saklawi Sheifi. The newest information is from Daham Abd El Aziz al Meslat an old sheikh of the Jibur tribe, who whitnessed in 2007, that  he was from a pure strain "Siglawee Jedrani" and from the El Jibur tribe and al Meslat´s grandfather Al Moablat Pasha presented him to the king.

El Deree was a successful race horse in Egypt and a sire at Inshass and later at the E.A.O..

The mother of Sid Abouhom was Layla, a chestnut Dahmaniah Shahwaniah by Ibn Rabdan and Bint Sabah, born 1929. So Layla is a half sister to the famous Bukra and Sheikh El Arab.

One of the most important daughters of Sid Abouhom is the mare Moheba. She was the foundation mare of Germany´s most important damline in Egyptian breeding. She only had one daughter, imported in utero: Malacha by El Sareei.

Marqueesa is an example of a mare descending to Moheba with 7 crosses to Sid Abouhom.
